Atkinson Fire Department

Introduction 

Atkinson Fire Department was founded in 1964. It serves the Town of Atkinson, 130 square miles of Pender County and 2 square miles of Bladen County. Atkinson Fire Department has recently reduced its insurance rating with the NCDOI to a class 6. Atkinson Fire Department operates out of one station located at:

Staff 

Atkinson Fire Department is staffed from 8-5 on Mondays through Fridays with a pool of 8 part time firefighters but relies heavily on volunteers in the area to handle calls not during those times. Also vounteers are needed during the day time hours to bring other equipment to scenes that cannot be carried on the first out truck and provide additional manpower.
